PAT Testing

PAT Testing (Portable Appliance Testing) is a name for a series of checks used to check if a piece of electrical equipment is safe to use, PAT Testing is a combination of a visual inspection and electrical testing used to identify potential faults or damage to an item which could make it unsafe to use.

The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 require that any electrical equipment that has the potential to cause injury is maintained in a safe condition, and although it is not a legal requirement it is carried out by almost all workplaces to ensure the safety of staff.
